“It is a shame people don’t understand the artistic process of another individual. it is true that virginia created those words. yet, she did not invent the wheel. she used language, & i have a huge respect for her because of it. she tapped into something other artists are appreciative of. it would take decades for her work to have a profound impact on many. but her work is not for everyone. i believe she would respect the process of others, much as t.s. eliot respected her handling of his words.”
-my response to fuckyeahvirginiawoolf’s (http://fuckyeahvirginiawoolf.tumblr.com/) refusal to credit the above image to the artist who re/created this excerpt from Virginia Woolf’s The Waves.
below is the original message from fuckyeahvirginiawoolf’s:
“I just can’t understand why I should be forced into adding the name of a “creator”. It does not make any sense. I don’t perceive it as an “image”. I perceive it as an excerpt text from “The Waves”. The “creator” is Virginia and she is the one and only who shall be credited. It was published by her and L so ENLIGHTEN ME. WHY should I exactly add another name? I’m not being difficult, I’ve huge trouble understanding where you’re coming from. If I did I’d have added the extra name. But no. I never please anyone just to shut them up. So convince me and if you have any valid argument I WILL add it.”
